I have a chrysler 9.9 outboard for my sailboat, want to lock it in a centre position, anyone seen or have ideas how?

I dont need to turn it side to side because my tiller on the boat does that.. so I want to lock it in position so I get thrust straight forward or reverse everytime.

Thanks

Should be a friction adjustment for how tight or loose the steering is. Just find that and snug it down tight with the OB centered. You will lose some maneuverability using rudder only. If you can reach the OB tiller I would use that since you have vectored thrust that way instead of just fore and aft propulsion.

There will be a friction adjustment setting that is just snug enough that it won't turn by itself under power, but you can still override it by hand. That's where you want it to be.

There will come a time when the wind will grab you or you will otherwise be unable to steer with the rudder, so for safety's sake, you need engine control.
