I recently purchased a 1987 ebbtide with a "470" alpha 1 outdrive, this boat i got for a steel,he told me the motor was just rebuilt but when he took it in to have the gauges worked on after his test run that didnt go so well due to the wires catchin cause of the crappy alternator set up,that has been fixed, the people there told him the motor was locked up?i took the boat did the soak w/pb blaster ect,and stil nothing, took the starer off...nothing...so i pulled the head and found that this motor was so clean u could eat off it?there was water in the back cylinder?alot like 2in?there was also what looked like mud around the area? so i cleaned it soaked it again and staring to try and work it free,it statred moving a very little,i them took the outdrive and proceded to keep trying to free the motor, then it came free and spins nice now? is there something in the outdrive that would cause the motor to seemed locked up when puttin a socket on the crank?why would they say the motors locked up?everything in the oudrive looks new and he tells me it is?why when i pulled the outdrive i could turn the motor? or did that just help me free it up?is there something i need to know before i put it back together?like when i install the outdrive is it going to not let the motor spin over?
thanks alot guys all the info i can get is very helpful
and i only paid 200 dollars for the whole thing it looks brand new the trailers worth that to me lol i hear the 470 is a piece
