Anyone able to date this piece? I know that Lockhart-Ash also made Motor-Go for Sears catalog but can't get the Serial Number off it. Faded or pitted. Very low number due to 3 little indents where it should be. The mounting bracket has the #3171 and the flywheel underside has 2 numbers.. F 693 and D 19082..any help would be great. Looking to sell but need a year to list it. I also have a 1924 Johnson Serial A 9458 and is in good shape, if anyone has a picture to compare it too..Thanks, and this web site is awesome for knowlege of antique motors. If you have one, put it here for all of the experts to give you all you need. Chris

Re: Lockhart-Ash early model

On your Johnson. The serial number is right for 1924. It was probably a Model A Johnson, making 2 hp. It should be a single cylinder motor. I'm trying to find a photo for you to compare.

http://www.infoblvd.net/sah/Outboarder/1972/apr72-1.html

The photo on the right is a 1922 Johnson Model A. It should be very similar in appearance to yours. Highly sought after by antique collectors.
