I have to move this winter (very late December, or early January timeframe) and that means towing my boat from NY to SC in what could be less then ideal weather. I've been debating whether to buy a trailerable custom-fit cover or have the boat shrinkwrapped before I leave. The boat is currently kept garaged, and while there is some chance it would have to stay outside at any future residence, I am pretty sure I would not lease any house that didn't have a garage I could put the boat in.
The cover seems like the logical choice since its reusable, but shrinkwrap might do a better job keeping the boat clean and dry and not marking up the gelcoat due to rubbing against it at highway speeds. Cost is not really a concern. Which would you do?
