Hello,

Just found iboats, pretty cool!

I would like to know if anyone here has trailered a boat behind a camper?

We have a 27 ft 5fth wheel camper that I haul to the lake (20 mile). After we get the RV set up then ol Dad has to drive 40+ miles round trip to get the boat, needless to say this is a pain and expensive.

The entire boat+trailer lenght is 23ft and the RV is about 28-30ft....then there is the truck another 21ft for a grand total of 74 ft! Even though this would be quite long I think I'll give it a try.

Anyone done this?

Y'all have a pretty nice place here.

Thanks

I did once...was just fine. Get everything you need before you hook up the boat, cause if'n you have to stop somewhere it's real tough to park...and if you have to back up, it could be even tougher. Make sure you have a place to park the boat when you get where you are going...if you do your homework, you should be fine...oh yea, try to miss the traffic jams... :)

Re: Long haul

I believe doubles are allowed here in Ohio so that's one thing I don't have to worry about. I guess my main concern is the additional weight and stress put on the frame of the RV mostly the king pin.

Our boat is a Rinker V170 17' probably weighs around 1800 lbs +/- a few with the trailer.

I'm in the beginning stages of research, I need to contact the RV manufacture I recon to make sure they approve.

Beside the obvious safety concerns are there any mechanical concerns anyone can think of?

Thanks all

I believe that ALL 5th wheels are built to tow a boat (And A Boat Is The Only Thing You Can Tow Behind One). All you have to do is have a frame reciever welded to the 5th wheel and wireing.

All you have to do is once you get on the road, pick a lane and stay there. Try to avoid sharp corners (Like City Streets) if possible, or take them WIDE.

Hope this helps.

Craig
