Long shaft or not longshaft ?

Hi Guys..<br /><br />1989, Merc 3Cyl 50HP ELPTO, dont have the serial to hand. <br /><br />I take it Merc would have produced this lump in three lengths, I dont know if mine is a standard or long shaft. How do I check ?..<br /><br />Regards all Keith B......

It's in the model number.<br />E=Electric Start<br />L=Longshaft<br />PT=Power Trim<br />O=?<br />I don't think those were ever made short or extra long. Just long.

Short=15", Long=20", XLong=25"

O=Oil Injection<br /><br />The measurement for length, would be from the transom mount down to the anti-ventilation plate above the prop. It's not exact, but you should be able to distinguish which you have within the 5" increments.
