Hello all,
I am a new member to the forum. I have aquired a fishing boat with a 60 hp Mercury outboard on it. The deck was rotted so I repaired it and now it is time to move to the motor. The boat belonged to my grandfather but no one has used it since 1995 or so. The motor is a 1988 model and does not have many hours on it. What steps should I take before I try to start it up? I know I will need to clean the carbs. What about the fuel pump? It is an oil injected model. Anything I can do to check this system? What about the lower unit? Anything to grease or check here? It has been stored in a covered shed if that matters. Any help is appreciated.
