Re: long term employment

I had a service manager make me quite once. I busted him going into company payroll records, he got pissed because i made more. He made every day for one year hell. I went to the CEOO, I though was a good guy. I was told, If i had documented just some of words exchanged and the dates I would have a case. After a long day in H.Q. that I took a vaction day for, I found out wright stuff down!. I was not let go I moved on.

Re: long term employment

I know what you mean as I have 3 bosses due to plant structure. Shift foreman, area manager, and a production manager, what they want me to is not always, so I give them numbers of good product, and take vacation then they see that I am valuable to them.

Re: long term employment

I guess long term employment does not always mean long term enjoyment . . .

start with the boss . . . as suggested.

Address the issues one rung of the ladder at a time till you get results.

I am 19 years at my company. One thing I have learned. If you don't like your boss, give it a year or two and will probably change. In the past 7 years I have probably had just as many bosses. This also goes for coworkers. They come and they go..

Sometimes ya have to sweat it out. Had a guy that worked for us,he quit for a different job, then came back a year later. I'd attempt to explain certain way's we do thing's @ the business,he would fly off the handle, smart off ext... One day he blows up for no reason, and says we should take this to the boss,I say ok lets go! Guess what? I'm a winner! No problem since. Some people need to be reminded some way or another that they are not the only smart person on the planet. I know I'm not....lol

I'm same, been here almost 7 yrs, about as many bosses - love my job though and newish much younger boss(who is not great w/ people)makes some dumb mistakes, takes up/wastes too much time , doesn't listen, talks too fast, sends out longgggggg emails that no one has the time to read all of - drove my two guys crazy, but they got lucky and transitioned into diff co. roles, I try to be patitnet for now :)

Re: long term employment

Wait them out and do your job well. I have found that if you give someone enough rope, they will hang themselves....every time. Had one boss that was a PITA and part owner. When the other partners found out what he had been doing (anonymously, with subtlety, and a little at a time),he was drummed out. Recently, a new partner, who also served a GM, who spent his time doing thing on the cheap, micro-managing, ticking everybody off, and padding his own pocket in the process, was abruptly shown the door. Give it time. Crap has a way of separating itself from the good stuff.

Friend to deal with your problem you should figure out a way to deal with THE problem. Everyone has buttons that can be pushed. Be calm andLEARN WHAT HIS ARE THEN PUSH THEM... He may be a narcissist <commonly called a control freak. These types of demented personalities are very vulnerable once you understand more about this mental defect.
