in advance: love this site. I’ve lurked for a long time. Constantly reviewing old posts. But where I am in a new spot.
always having at LEAST a 90hp engine. We now live a happy walking distance from a local reservoir and river. As such I came across a GREAT deal on a 15’ fiberglass boat (pointed bow; so not sure if it classified as a Jon Boat- but anyway). with a 98 Merc 9.9 2-stroke pull start tiller.
Was able to spin it out today and got a real nice 18 mph. Not sure of the RPMs and it’ll take a while to get used to manual tilt. But, the family loved it. And so do I.
anyway. Here’s the questions. I’m almost 100% certain I’ll need a battery in that thing somewhere in order to install now and stern lights. And assuming I’ll wire off of that battery for a bilge pump.
So so my question really is what the eff to I wire from the engine to the battery to keep it charged as I puddle around? Under the cowl of this little engine spooks me out more than tearing apart a V-6. (Maybe because the wife gave me a spending limit on this toy).
thank you in advance!
