long to short

I have just bought a Mercury 8 hp LS outboard and I was wondering how hard it would be to convert it to short shaft.

Is this a new drive shaft job the same as OMC motors?

It is possable to covert a X long back to a long as it is done with a kit, a long to short would be expencive as one would need to purchace a new torque tube and related parts with a new driveshaft, very expencive if not impossible

Thanks for the reply Laddies.

I have fired this motor up in the barrel but the water only seems to come out in bursts...Could this be the thermostat a blockage or must a knackered impeller

Best course might be to try to find a short shaft motor with a bad powerhead and swap them out.
