Any body see the 1964 3hp Johnson on E-Bay. The second picture clearly shows the motor running out of water. That should make it sell. Oh I see it has a burned up impeller. Let me put my bid in right away.

Thanks for the link. Do you really think that motor is air cooled? I wondered that for a second but thought no way.

Not sure, but I don't see water inlets and the shaft looks just big enough to encase the driveshaft, no water passage. Again I'm not sure.

I've got one of those, it's water cooled.

I thought I saw water inlets on the second picture, just below the cavitation plate.

That is one of the best little twin cylinder, water cooled (except in the pic) outboards ever made.

Needs an impeller, though. :(

OK I stand corrected. :)

Impeller damage can occur in as little as 5 seconds, especially if the impeller has not seen water for a while, and is already old and brittle to begin with.

So yeah, plan to add the price of an impeller kit to the purchase!

Maybe he just had it in neutral and spun the prop real quick by hand and took the pic. :D
.....OK ....maybe not.

Ever the optimist,

Dave

Well, I'd replace the impeller as soon as I bought it anyhow, so it wouldn't matter to me. At least I'd know it would start...

Thats a good point, but I would not let a potential buyer know that I treat my motor like crap. I guess I am just a little proud of mine.
