Appears to be a 1952 qd-13. Couple of issues with it, but i think she will run. Compression is 82-90 but i think it will free up good after a soaking. Took the pullstarter and flywheel off to inspect. ( flywheel was STUBBORN). Coils appear to be original. reddish in color, but not cracked. Cleaned points, and put on a couple of new mettalic core wires, and got Snappy blue spark!
issues found so far..DIRTY. Just plain squirrels nest gross. But iv'e seen worse. One mount for the pull start broken, but the other 2 hold it in place fine. Lower unit oil milky. Drained and replaced it to flush..Shifts fine though. I will replace the fluide again after putting the fill gaskets on. They were missing. I worked on a 54 7.5 last year, and this carb design is completely different on this one..Hopefully it will be clean enough to run, because it scares me to dig into it.Anyways heres the pic. Fresh from under the porch wrapped in blankets for about 30 years...Oh..Found the clean 2 line tank tucked under there as well. cell phone pics are terrible.

Those were tough motors. Had one years ago on a tinny and later moved it to a pontoon. No need to be afraid of the carb. Those are pretty basic units. Run a rich mixture of SeaFoam through it. If you are unfamiliar with the process just do a search on this forum for "Decarb Procedure".

I love these "finds!" The photos remind me of my childhood, when there were still a fair number of these motors in regular use.

My grandaddy had a buddy who docked his boat at our dock. He was retired and went fishing every single day in the warm weather months. That old motor (his was a 10hp too, but was a year or two newer than yours) took him out of the pond, and into the ocean to fish day after day, year after year. He always returned just fine, with flounder, stripers and bluefish for supper!
