I am considering buying a boat with above motor im not sure what the model is as im in africa right now and cant get it. I was wondering if there were any major issues in the year. The boat is a Skeeter ZX20 if you know of any problems with the boat as im guessing is the first year it was made.Do you think that 15K is a good price as well? One owner low hours.

only major issue is the balancer assy failure, which can be catastrophic, what kind of warrenty do you get?
balancer assy retails in the US for about 725 dollars and they tend to fail on pre 07 models.

Its for sale by owner so no warrenty. How likely is that part to fail? Should I look for another boat because of that or consider changing it out to a new one? If it fails it sound like a new power head.I dont want to be replacing a 4stroke power head on something I just bought.

dunno.
I own a 2007 F150 but its still under warrenty so I dont sweat it.
the latest part incorperates a better oiling and not all fail.

yes
you will also need 2 item 28 and a tube of anerobic sealent.
takes about 1.5 hours to change it.
not all fail,in fact most did not.
otherwise its a solid performer.

Thanks Rodbolt,I was wondering if most failures happened soon after breakin or if it can fail anytime. And would running a synthetic oil help?
