... hey there cbrown,

well you did one of the most important tests already, the sea trial. now you can go over the structure of the deck, transom, etc... what size and style of motor does it have? lots of tips on what to look for covered in the general boats section of this website using the search feature. if possible get the history on how the boat was stored and maintained. and lastly price.

welcome aboard!

Thanks man, the boat has a mercruiser v6 and looks very clean with two minor scratches on the boat, it was stored in a shed with a cover on it, it was winterized every winter, it looks to be a very good clean boat I am just not familiuar with Bayliner and was looking for some more information.

Thanks

Without looking at the boat the asking price seems to be within the "norm" for that year and model. Of course there is always room for some downtalk.
The biggest issue with any boat - be it a Bayliner or whatever is previous owner care. A good owner will always keep a log book to tell when certain maintenance items were done, i.e. oil change, tune up, etc. Ask him if he has one or where the maintenance was done. Then go talk to those folks.
If it has the 4.3L motor then it should be a very nice boat. Plenty of power for skiing, wakeboarding and so on.
Your fuel economy will be completely relevant to your hand - they can suck some fuel so keep it as gentle as you possibly can.
They are good family boats. I wish you well in your purchase and hope you can get a marine survey done on her before the purchase. It will save you many headaches down the road.
Hey - summer's coming up, have fun and be safe!!!!!

thanks for the info, i have talked to the owner and he has taken very good care of the boat, he has all receipts from the things that he had done to the boat but he is the second owner and he doesnt have anything from the first owner. I was also going to ask what is this marine survey thing??

... a private individual who does a "home inspection" per say on your boat. on larger very expensive boats they are a must. the expense generally falls on you and prices vary. it can give peace of mind and/or bargining leverage if issues are found.
