Looking for a boat BBQ......

Well summer is coming fast and need tyo figure out how to rig a BBQ on the 2002 WA Trophy. I have been looking at the gimbal mounted BBQ's but I was hoping to see what everyone else has.

I was thinking of converting a small propane BBQ into a Gimbal mount. Seeing the BBQ is only around $30. This is not a permanent thing. Just for a couple of day trips with the wife and kids. I know that it will not be Coast guard approved and all that. But I'm sure I can make it work for the application and useage I want it for.

So show the BBQ's.... I understand by showing your BBQ here it is not leagally binding that you are recommending this setup. It is only your and you are proud of it. Hell we all have a redneck in us......

I don't know that the CQ has an approval on any propane grills. It's not like they're spark arrested. Keep in mind that propane has a gas density of 1.55 as compared to air, so it is a bit more than 1.5 times as heavy. Any propane leak is going to sink, so i would make sure that the grill and the gas can are mounted outboard. This will allow the propane to sink to the water level outside of the boat. I believe that permanently mounted propane tanks (particularly below deck) require a sealed propane locker that is vented to the outside via a through hull. I use portable cans of propane all the time.

Back to the original question....I have a Magma. They are designed not to drip grease and they do well in a marine environment. You can use anything you want, but I would make sure that it is both moutned outboard and well fastened so as not to slide or move. MAgma's have a wide variety of mounts and mounting hardware.

I have a Kuuma SS grill, which has a flat base and pole that sits into a rod holder. Hangs over the side so that any grease that may dripp goes into the water.
