Re: looking for a good advise(carpet)

A freind of mine redid his boat last year and ended up going to lowes/menards and got some nice low pile indoor/outdoor carpet.
It was pretty thin and really easy to work with as far as cost I don't think it was to bad, maybe just 2-3 fingers. good luck.

IPEER

Home Depot also sells Marine/Outdoor Carpet and the Exterior Glue if you plan to glue it down.

I redid my carpet and went to Lowe's and bought there best outdoor carpet they had which was exactly the same carpet the boat came with new. As stated above you can get the glue there also. It wasn't a hard job but the glue is very messy if you get it on your hands. My advice would be to make sure you don't get the glue on the top side of the new carpet because it won't come off. The only hard part was getting the seems glued down correctly. As you get the carpet layed down take a can of spray paint or a can of anything and use it to roll the top side of the carpet. This helps the carpet bond to the glue and helps it stick to floor evenly. Good luck.

Truck Bed Liner? Would you like that instead of carpet? I just dont like carpets in boats. My wife wants me to put carpet in our boat when i get the deck in and glassed in and what not. Id rather put anything in there than carpet though. Just keep your options open though. I dont know if iboats sells carpet, but i have bought carpet through Cabelas before. It was marine grade carpet and it was kinda pricy but its nice and lures dont hang up in it like regular carpet. Check iboats out first though cause if they sell it i bet its cheaper here than elsewhere. Good luck

I am with drewmitch.

Carpet collects all sorts of smelly, corrosive stuff and promotes rot.

Bedliner type material doesn't. It hoses clean as a hound's tooth and waterproofs the deck.

It can be found in a variety of colors and can be mixed to offer more choices.

Consider it.

Let's face it, most people want the feel of carpet, although I see the arguments against it.

Look on eBay for Marine carpet. Lots of reputable sellers there. Most will sned you some sample patches to check color and quality.

I got mine from www.yourautotrim.com . they have Aqua turf that is decent quality. Only had it one season but so far it's great. I picked them because of price and the color I wanted.

Good luck.

P.S. btw, I had to look thru my "boat receipts" folder to find who i bought the carpet from. Here's a tip.....NEVER review your boat receipt folder!!!!!!!!! Pain. Turns out, my wife is right, I DO spend a fortune on that darn thing - and i don't keep the GAS receipts!!!!!!

Re: looking for a good advise(carpet)

if you're fishing and don't want carpet to clean, that's fine. not all of us like to drag bleeding fish into our boats. lol

i bought mine from ingles carpet. they have several thicknesses and styles to chose from, not to mention colors. just search for them.

carpet is such a pain in the butt to take up, i went with fairly nice stuff so i hopefully won't have to think about it again for another decade or so.
