Looking For A Nice Mid Cabin Open Bow... Suggestion?

I currently have a 98 Rinker 232 cuddie but have been getting bored with it. I enjoy the cuddi but am wanting a open bow as well. I am needing to get around $10k for mine which I am sure I can do. I would like to keep it $25k or less. I have a 350 Mercruiser with Bravo 3 drive. I am not wanting to drop in performance and would prefer a 454 or 502. I would like to keep it late 90's or early 2000's. Any suggestions? I would like 23'-32'. Any help with makes/models for mid cabin performance boats would be great.

The Nordic mid-cabins are real popular with the "family oriented" performance boaters.

Hell, I just like the bow light on the Nordic model.

Never noticed that before, it does look cool!

Probably adds about $5,000 to the cost of the boat! :)

Been kinda eying these... Just needing a bargain in order for me to justify. I'm a car dealer and have a issue paying retail. The prices look pretty decent but I want something I can get my $ back out of if I need to free up some cash. What are your thoughts? They are in my opinion ideal for what I want just hard to find compared to your standard cuddie or bow rider.

Those things remind me of rumble seats

To get any kind of usable cuddy it looks like you'll need to go 27' or larger. I just don't think there is enough room for everything in a 23'.

Mariah made a nice mid cabin.

Gotta love the power engine hatch, power telescoping stern light, and power seats.

I just finished removing the electric hatch lift from the Chris*Craft and replacing it with an Attwood spring-lift and some new hold-down latches. That thing was a major PITA in practice.

Anyone looking for a Lenco electric lift? :)

Mid Cabin Open bows are very popular where I boat. Here are some typical examples, and there are more from Hallett, Commander, Nordic (see 45s post) Genesis, Domn8er . . . list goes on. Your pricing example is not that far off either. Most have 454s, 496s and 502s.

Anyone of those mid-cabin bow riders offer a fast way to cover the bow?

I'd be all over that setup for my next boat, if I could quickly close the bow. I guess those boats make sense on old man river and ho hum inland lakes, but they could make sense along the coast if I could keep the mighty Atlantic from sending waves into the open bow.

Sweet setup indeed. Damn, I love a good boat brochure or new car brochure. Everything seems full of hope and promise. It's all so purdy and purfect. Kinda makes you fade away into some fantasy world where one gets to enjoy the perfect boat/car, in all its high-gloss glory.

Philster,

On my Ebbtide, I can close it like a traditional bowrider. Plus there is a sealed door between the mid-cabin and the bow. The boat sits very high in the water, I have taken it out through the mouth of Merrimack River and well out into the Atlantic on days the ocean looked like a washing machine. Not a problem at all.

Oddly enough when purchasing the boat a few years ago, it came down to the Ebbtide and a 29? Scarab. The Scarab was awesome and handled the nasty stuff really well, but Ebbtide offered more for what we needed. We could not have gone wrong with either boat, but no regrets.

You still would have a bow full of water if you stuff one . . . I have looked into this some and I do not believe there is any mid-cabin or walk thru for that matter, that securely closes the bow. Lot's of them with canvas covers and that would definitely limit the exposure, but would not eliminate it.

Nope, no fool proof but one would need to be a pretty big fool to stuff that bow.

About a third of my time on the ocean ( Newburyport MA). Actually I get out on the Atlantic via the Merrimack River. Its supposed to be the 2nd most hazardous waters on the East Coast. I don't venture much more than 20 miles off shore. The rest of the time I am on lake Winnipesaukee in NH. Unfortunately they passed a 45mph speed limit on the lake. There is a guy I met on the lake that purchased a 52' Outerlimits prototype last year. Twin 1100hps. He is not happy with the new speed limit.
