Folks, I'm looking for a program that will let me make forms that I can fill out on the computer and then print them out. I've tried using MS spreadsheet but jumping from one area on the form to the next is a pain.

I want to make incident reports for the Fire Dept. and be able to keep them on disc as well as hard copies.

Anybody know of anything on the market like this?

Hi OBJ,

I've used FileMaker Pro for that sort of thing. Not particularly easy to use...but highly modifiable and very powerful. You can incorporate mathematical formulas in there as well.

Excel would be another choice.

Good luck, Chuck

Where I used to work, they used MS Word for all forms, i.e.personnel, payroll, reports, travel, even IRS W2. Once the form is created, there's a way to preserve it and only allow input in allowable fields. Tab key moves cursor through the different fields. Only the forms administrator could modify the form itself. I don't know how exactly they do it, but I know it's possible.

I'll take a look at that BB.....got the programs on the work machine and at home. Maybe one of the office girls will know....we got a couple that really know there "stuff" about the programs.

Thanks!!

OBJ,

As BB suggested, there is a way to lock an MS Word document so that only chosen fields can be filled in.

MS Excel is sometimes difficult for novices (like me) to navigate.

A program called FormTool works very well for that sort of thing.
