I just purchased a 1997 Zodiac pro II 470, it is 15.5ft and weighs less then 1000lbs. It has a 1996 Yamaha TRV 50hp, the prop that is on the motor is stamped 16-g. I am getting 5000rpm at WOT. This seems low, the manual states 4500~5500 for WOT. I am running the boat at sea level.

From what I have read a 15 degree pitch would bring the revs up 200-300 rpm, which would be closer to the disired range. But what I really need to know is how will going from a stock aluminum to a SS will affect the rpm's.

Any prop recomendations would be great.

Thanks..................

I had another look at the prop, it's stamped 15-G. The diameter of the prop is roughly 8.5 inches.

Thanks...

SS will usually pull the R's down about 100, unless it's a hull-type that will react in a good manner to a higher lifting prop...I don't "think" the Zodiac would have that type of reaction.

I don't think it is really 8.5" diameter - that doesn't sound right.

Check out the iboats prop finder for some good replacement choices...

I think also, there are some good choices here, as Crownie says, but in this case, I think your best over-all prop will be a Stiletto.
