Here's a picture of the Johnny on the kicker plate. It's made by Yoder, whom I've never heard of. It adjusts up and down. When I put it in the run position the handle can not be extended. I will have to leave the handle in the storage positon.

I'll just have to try it out and see what I have.

bktheking; you got an even better deal than me! Congrats on that score. I think these motors are pretty cool looking. From back in the day when America made things. I look forward to brining mine back to life.

You got the tank, I didn't so imo you rocked the deal. NYMARINE.CA sells the paint and decals for restore as well as other parts. AOMCI.ORG should lead you to a used shift handle, post a want ad in the Webvertize section. They are awesome motors, especially the Johnsons. I have the 7.5 Evinrude of the same year and it's not near as cool as the Johnson, seems like the Ford vs Lincoln approach back then.

Re: Looking for a Vintage Kicker

I was lucky enough to get a 5.5hp '55 Johnson last fall for my birthday and it was love at first sight.

I'm glad to know you guys appreciate the little old OMC motors too. They certainly are reliable, my grandfather and my dad both loved the '55 10hp motors. We used a shortshaft for years on our 20' Sea Nymph as a kicker.

I plan on running mine as a kicker on my 16' starcraft...not sure if I will need a bracket or not yet but will do some testing soon:D

I also put in lots of time with it on my 12 footer to run up little rivers and fish.

I got two 6 gal old milemaster tanks with it so I will be running two line tanks for years;)
