I need to figure out a way to support my engine cover when I am maintaining my engine. I was thinking maybe some supports from a hatch back car? Does any one have any pics of there's? Here is mine in the closed position.

How about two hinged bars, one on either side. They can stay bolted to the side of the boat inside the compartment, when you lift it up, you connect them to the top, similar to a hood support on a car.

You could get really fancy and hook up something hydraulic or electric that opens and closes itself at the push of a button too, adds some value to the boat.

I'm surprised you don't have anything there from the factory. You can get the hydraulic rams for a hatchback car and install them in about 10 minutes. Just make sure you measure your hatch when its open for the size you need.

It did have some sort of supports from the factory but they no longer are there. I like the idea of the prop rod like a car hood.
