Hello all, yes I'm a rookie boat owner as we all were at some time.
I just picked up this what was told to me 1965 Johnson 18hp, strapped to a 1966 Alumicraft 14ft. The hull is in good shape, the motor needed some help.
I got it as "motor and prop won't turn" so after some investigation (I am an ASE certified mechanic so not a rookie to things with gears and spark plugs, but boat motors are new to me) and some good ol' YouTube I found the Lower Unit was seized up. After fixing the lower unit, it operates like a champ, but then trying to start it it ran on 2nd pull...but the top spark plug blew out, looks like the threads were pulled out of the head. So I bought a new head, but I can't find any details of Head torque specs since I can't find my exact model name (ex. big twin, fast twin etc)
I know for sure it says:
Model: FD-19D
Serial number: J2593420
Attached are some pics, it looks way nicer now then it did when I got it, after A LOT of work, I'm proud of my new toy and am wanting to take real good care of her. Any info is helpful, thank you in advance!

Model number FD-19 identifies it as a 1965 18hp. "Fastwin" is an Evinrude name mostly same as a Johnson FD.

I found this torque guide for the head bolts, but it only gives names of the model, not model number, so that's what I was trying to figure out so I get it right.

Sorry I guess I'm confused, I'm good to go for what? I don't know what the torque specs should be as the list I have is only model names, not numbers, and I don't know my units model name.

Stated another way, I believe I said an Evinrude Fastwin is essentially the same thing as a Johnson FD. Your chart says a Fastwin head is 96-120Inch pounds. So same thing applies to a FD, since it is the same motor. "Good to go" is an old term meaning all is well and you can proceed.

looks like in the above post its the fastwin, so i would use the specs for that model on the chart

Got the head on torqued to 96 then 120 in the proper sequence. She fired right up in first pull but when I brought her out on the water today couldn't do full throttle unless choke was on a little bit, does anyone have a carb rebuild guide, I already have the kit just no guide to adjust everything too?

I think the only settings would be initial settings for h.s. needle and l.s. needle (assuming you have one or both): 3/4 turn open (c.clockwise) for h.s., 1 1/2 open for l.s. The float should be even/level with the edge of the inverted carb top. If you can grab a parts diagram of your carb, it's probably all you need (try here at iBoats).
