Ok so no manual yet (it’s on way)
I have electric shift stinger 78 ish
Something had locked up the complete drive and motor (I bought this way)
Pulled drive motor turned so that was good
Drive seemed to turn
Found vid for pump replacement so following vid but few things seemed odd
I didn’t find 6 bolts around fin so was thinking someone left out or fell out
Took top cap off
And started to pry little
I noticed all loose
Lifted up to separate and I saw what’s in pictures

I’m not sure if I can just remove broken part and put back together or if looking for parts

look at the pictures to see

also
Now that I have it lifted off I don’t see how the so-called 6 bolts have anything to do with this

The 6 bolts, are they philips head counter sunk in the top of the upper gear case that holds a cover on?
If so then I suspect that the center post in the gear case is broken off which caused the splined water pump shaft to break the spline off of the lower vertical shaft. In other words you have a very serious problem.
Try to post a picture of the top of the upper gear case.

Is this what you are referring to
I greased the splines and slid the top half down
Still about 3/4 input

Lift the top cover off of the upper gear case and check if the centering post is broken off or loose. The only way the spline can break is if there is a mis alignment. That drive unit had to have struck something really hard.

Honestly , assuming your upper unit is in decent shape, I would start looking for a new lower unit . Kenny will know more about it , but I am pretty sure to fix yours properly , you will need the new shaft and all of the very hard to find shimming tools .

I see those lower units all of the time for sale online and locally for fairly cheap.
