looking for information on my boat from others

hey i'm new to this forum but i'm trying to find some info on a boat i have just purchased it is a 1969 manatee outboard with a 40hp johnson motor, everything seems well but i have not taken it out yet,( bought over the winter) and i'm looking for some general information on boats like mine.<br /><br /> Thank you all,<br /><br /> Daniel

Welcome to iBoats Mr.Man!<br /><br />Make sure you have all the safty equipment before you shove off. I believe you will be mixing gas and oil in that motor. If you forget the oil you will be needing a new motor. I am sorry I know nothing about your boat but you will find somebody here who does I am sure.

Finding information on your type of boat is easy thanks to this forum, However trying to find info on Manatee Boat Co. is near impossible. I, as well as my father both own 18ft Manatees, they are solid well built boats. The company went out of business I believe in the late 80's early 90's. I have tried researching these boats numerous times and have never really found much info. Good Luck with the boat and search the posts on this forum they are sure to tell you everthing you need to know about boating.

My brother in law owns a 1987 18' Manatee. We use it for bay fishing. Its a decent boat. For its size it handles rough water pretty well. It seems like it was constructed fairly well. There's some cheap stuff on it, but overall its okay. Nothing fancy, but good boat. Our only gripe with it is that even with a 115 hp outboard, its kinda pokey, and the transom seems to sit too low in the water. None of that ever slowed us down. Enjoy your new boat!
