Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

We have a small inflatable boat in and one of the valves is missing the insides. It is an old Halkey Roberts 069BV and it has been discontinued. The boat is not really worth having the valve cut out and replaced so we are searching for a valve that we can take the insides out of to repair the one we have. The new 069 valves are not interchangeable.

this is what the valve looks like (there are 2 on the boat and this is the good one, we need one to match it, at least the insides of one)

thanks

Anna,

Impossible to find/buy just the central pin unless you find a good Samaritan. Original HR Valves are expensive. See if you can find a Asian copy of the same valve, the central pin has a tiny black screw and the head is slight wider than the original one. Unscrew the old upper valve from tube and screw the new one on lower old valve, both thread and diam are same.

You can grab internal lower valve against fabric with hand while removing upper valve with a valve tool extractor if you happen to have one. Apply soappy water on thread of new one and on tube's fabric hole contour, try to sit new valve with hand to match fabric mark left on fabric, once matched adjust tight with valve tool.

Tip: Defender stocks own brand sibs which are made in Asia, check with them if they have this valve including a valve extractor. Let us know your findings. Also check West Marine spare air valves.

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

Hi

Thank you very much :)

I will check that out, we have a West Marine in town and I will find a Defender distributer.

If I could find an entire old HR valve I would be willing to purchase the whole thing and take out the pieces that we need if Defender or West Marine cannot come up with a replacement

I really appreciate all your input.

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

Anna,

Defender stocks both new HR 690-NSVB and Asian HR clones, the issue according to Defender web page note is that old HR base does not match new HR nor Asian clones upper bodies.

Update : My spare original HR screwed into a HR Korean clone is the new type code 690-NSBV, so will not match a Old HR lower valve seat. West Marine stocks HR valves, but doesn't say if it's a 060-VB or 690-NSBV model, will need to inquire direct with them.

http://www.***************/inflatab...y-roberts-valve-for-inflatable-boats--9508060

If stocking the new type was thinking buying one and dissasembling the central pin and re locating it on the old upper valve assuming both middle shafts are same lenght. but to my surprise the yellow plastic holder that locks against middle shaft does't turn round on it's axis nor can't be pushed downwards for holder clearance. So mission impossible to remove, seems it's glue/locked on shaft. So this issue complicates a fast removal alternative. They also sell the valve tool remover which is a must have at hand.

Other idea, remove your current old valve fron tube and take it to a west marine store and compare it against the new model, comparing your upper posted pic against mine, the only visual difference is that yours has 6 upper cuts (where extractor tool locks in) and new 8, if both upper valves has same thread diam, you should be able to exchange them.

BTW, how didi you manage to lose the central pin & seat, spring and lock ? Probably pin & seat are inside tube ?

Hi Anna!

Try googling stryker boats. They have some clones!

Welcome aboard, Anna. Have you considered replacing the valve yourself? Valves aren't very expensive and don't really require any specialized tools other than possibly a valve wrench which you may already have.

Hello All,

this is my first post also Anna

I think AAA out of Denver might have what you are looking for
HALKEY-ROBERTS OLD SHORT VALVE
http://www.aaainflatables.com/HALKEY-ROBERTS-OLD-SHORT-VALVE-p/v-hr-old-short-valve.htm

( if above links are broken, hopefully you can reconstruct it with the following info )
aaainflatables[dot]com

Not sure if it is "hi-jacking" your thread,
but I have one of the Jilong Z-ray Series II 500 Buccaneers ( Red Star Marine ) iBoats
was blowing out last year and a Sevylor Somoa SUP of which both I would like to know
what is the proper inflation adapter to get.

For the Jilong, the dust cover male fitting is 17 mm dia. on the outside at the bayonet fingers,
then steps out to 19 mm up by the silicon(?) washer, and about 16mm from the tip to the washer.

For the Sevylor, the dust cover male fitting, it is 22 mm outside dia. and about 23 mm to a flange
that retains the sealing washer, with it being about 26 mm to the sealing washer itself.

any good insights would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

Sea Rider,
thanks for being interested

I picked up a high volume / high pressure (2 and some psi, go figure) 12 volt dc pump
the thing they call the Halkey-Roberts inflation adapter works with the valve on the
Sevylor iSUP once I trimmed the tabs down (I guess the tabs are for some long reach
application )
Halkey-Roberts_InflationAdapter.jpg
'still not sure what to order if I was to order something online off of a web shop

and then there is still the Jiilong inflation valve, the spare is pictured below

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

Hmmmm interesting thought about the location of the valve, the boat is at my parents in Florida and I am in Virginia, we were down to visit them a few weeks ago and were putting a few things in order and noticed that the valve was missing when we went to inflate the boat for them. My sister will be there in a few weeks I will have her check inside the tube and see what she can find. I will go by west marine this weekend and see what they have. I really appreciate all the info

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

Anna,

JRC has posted a link regarding finding an old HR valve, check previous posts, seems the threaded body is shorter on the old than on the new valve, probably that's all the difference + less number of valve removal cuts at upper valve on old one. Buy one as long are still available, new HR valves don't match as stated on Def web page.

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

JRC,

So the upper black valve adapter matches ok he Sevylor with trimmed tabs down, have you already made the trim ?. You could buy a Halkey Roberts valve adapter as attached pic for the second one, check Defender, West Marine. Will only need to match your elec pump diam hose.

Happy Boating

Re: Looking for Old Halkey-Roberts Valve 069-BV

Once I trimmed the tabs on that black inflation adapter
not only does it work great with the Sevylor valve

but now, after i sanded about 1 mm off of the diameter,
it will now also work with the Jilong valve
once I find a suitable 6 mm or so thick silicon washer

I made a make-shift mandrel to mount the adapter
in a drill press and sanded off about 1 mm from the diameter
so now it fits in the cylinder of both of those valves.
( then dressed the edges and tidied up the crumbles and burrs with a file )

Now that I have some more experience with these Halkey-Roberts
type inflation valves, I am of the opinion they are all more or less
the same and that when looking for inflation adapters in the future,
I would probably just go with one of the universal - Adjustable
Halkey-Roberts Valve Adaptor Fittings from Bravo, Scoprega,
Solstice, or the like.

'found some nice generic info on inflation valves over at NRS
http://www.nrs.com/boating_tips/valve_know_how.asp
and
Rave has a decent pdf about replacing valves and the valve nut.
( including instructions for the doughnut patch )
http://www.ravesports.com/assets/documents/products/replacing-a-halkey-roberts-valve.pdf

also,
sorry,
I guess I was all to excited the last time I was looking around AAA Inflatables
now that I was back on their website checking things out, I saw the valve I previously
pointed to is no longer available from them either
