Re: Looking for old Sea King info
Hi Tim<br />This is completely normal. There is no where for the oil to go. Because you have not adjusted your carb yet, you are going to have more oil and more smoke. The beginning settings for the needle valve are usually on the rich side. Your settings should be 1/2-3/4 turn open on the hi-speed and 1 1/2 turns open on the lo-speed. Now since the hi-speed needle controls how much fuel is allowed to enter the bowl,it also has an effect on the lo-speed. This is why it is important to adjust the hi speed needle first, after the begining setting is made. The only way you can make this adjustment is at full throtle. This is why you have to go to the lake, it would not be a good idea to try this in a garbage can. Once you have made the hi-speed adjustment(usually leaned some) You may find that you will need to richen the lo-speed somewhat. Don't worry about smoke, smoke is good. While you are adjusting the hi-speed, as you lean, you will notice there will get to be a lot less smoke. This will let you know that your close. Don't leave the setting at the extreme lean. Once there, fatten it just a litte. Make just a little smoke.
