Looking for Parasailers and Parasailing info

Hi, everyone. (I originally posted this on the water skiing forum, but decided this one would be more appropriate.)

For a work project, I need to do take pictures of a parasailer. I'm trying to quickly learn as much as possible about parasailing, and find someone who might own and use a parasail that could either steer me in the right direction or hire themselves out to be photographed parasailing for this project. I haven't had much luck with the commercial operators.

Are there any resources or forums where parasailers hang out? Does anyone know a parasailer who might be interested in hiring themselves out for this project? There's a decent (but not huge) chunk of change available for this.

I can provide more details.

Good point. I'm in the Northeast, but can do this anywhere in the States, preferably East Coast. We need it to be from a beach, too.

well, I don't know if I'm interested in being involved in the project, but I own a parasail (non-commercial) and have done maybe 100 beach launches over the past two years. I can tell you what you need to know about how it's done or whatever. It's a 5-6 man job to do it so it's usually an event rather than a spur of the moment thing. Also, it can only be done safely in 5-10 mph winds and the wind needs to be coming into shore where you're launching.

I don't know of any forum on parasailing, but there may be one.

You won't have much luck getting someone to parasail in the NE for a few months I wouldn't think. Beach launches land in the water and it's COLD!

What is it you're doing anyhow?

Thanks for the responses.

This was for a photo shoot for a client; I'm a freelance photographer. They have since been scared off by the anticipated expense, and are now looking at another concept. Happens all the time.

At least I discovered this forum, which will be very useful to me as a boater. I used to go on rec.boats but the last time I looked there it was about 95% spam, 3% rants, and 2% useful info. So much for Usenet...

So thanks, again, for the suggestions, and I'll be back here soon with my own boating posts.
