Thanks to this forum I have the boat rebuilt and motor running great. Now for the prop. It is a 21 pitch on a 22 ft skiff (light boat). I think I need to drop down in pitch to get the right or optimim boat plane at crusing speed. It seems to want to cruise at about 25mph. Question what is a good cruise RPM and what is the recomended WOT RPM for the 1993 135HP?
Thanks,TH
PS: Boat is overpowered so I am getting by fine just seeking to get the right prop for what I do (fishing - no skiing ect).
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/thehermitoncc/detail?.dir=742b&.dnm=8fce.jpg&.src=ph

That looks to be in the 20' ballpark, so I don't think you have any worries about overpowering as long as the transom will take it. You're looking for 5500 at full throttle, but 6000 wouldn't worry me. I'm not sure that's a planing hull. Looks more like a displacement hull which isn't nearly as fast.

Hey Willy,
Transom handles it like a champ (all new). I searched the forumn and found 5800 as a target?! This is within the range you talk about. Will have to test the current RPMs but dont quite think its there. Going to a 20 (from a 21) with no change in diameter would raise it about 200RPMs? I will have to hit the water and get some more specs for ya.

Gang,
With normal load I topped out at 5000 with the 21pitch so I am going to go down to a 19 that acording to theory should bring me up to 5400 with load or about 5600 ish with nobody else (or thing) on board, right?!

Close enough, but a 17 will give you a great hole-shot and still not exceed mandate.

-W

???....Just ran the 14x19 and I am still @ 5000-5200 RPM????? I seem to have gained more hole shot and grab on the water out of the hole but no real RPM increase. The Manual says 5000-5600 RPM @ WOT. According to that I am OK. Clams maybee you were right I should have tried the 17 huh?? I am at a loss here!
