i'm replacing the floor in a Lund rebel. i drilled the rivets out but can't find new ones. i tried to call Lund but i don't know if it is a Genmar bankruptcy thing but all i get is a automated answer machine. cannot get to the receptionist or parts. i checked Fastenall but they don't carry any with the large heads. a while ago on here someone psted that they found them at McMaster-Carr. i called them this morning but unless i am not communicating right they didn't have any that are long enough with a 5/8th head. i remember the post but could not find it in a search but the poster included pictures of the rivets and they looked like what i need. so if whomever made that post is out there could you post or PM me the part number for McMaster-Carr. or if anybody else knows of a place to get large head rivets with a 5/8 grip range i sure would appreciate the info.
thanks

Re: looking for rivets

Did you look at McMaster's website? (www.mcmaster.com) They do a very good job of keeping it updated with everything they carry.

I'd also look at www.grainger.com

Then maybe a couple of aircraft building suppliers I've used before

www.wicksaircraft.com
www.aircraftspruce.com

Not saying any of these places for sure have what you need, but there's a good possibility and it'd sure be worth spending a a few minutes checking them out.

I thought fastenal could order closed und rivets? If you need a larger surface covered you can use a washer along with a rivet.

Now keep this in mind..... get only aluminum. Any othe will give you heartaches later down the road.

Re: looking for rivets

i got the rivets from McMaster-Carr part #97447A095. they are a 3/16" rivet with a .650 head and a 5/8-3/4 grip range. they are an all aluminum rivet. i tested one last night. worked perfect to hold 1/2"cdx, 3/32" aluminum stringer, and nautolex vinyl. sucked down tight with about 3 pumps of the rivet gun. they were cheap. about $11 for 100 count box.
thanks for the help finding them. i couldn't originally find them a McMaster-Carr but your suggestion of Graingers gave me another source. i found them at Graingers and with their better description i was able to go back to McMaster-Carr and find what i needed.

Re: looking for rivets

Hey Marquette any chance you can snap a photo of your rivets? I would love to see what you are talking about. I may need the same rivets for my restore. Thanks in advance!
