As you go back the motor will naturally be lower. It'll follow the transom angle. And as you go back you are moving the center of gravity or balance point back.<br /><br />Personally I like the Bob's stuff. You can go with the 6" or the 10" offset. They also have 2" spacers so you'll have a lot of options. The downside of a Bob's is the pump has to be mounted inside. I've used CMC's and the Gorilla Jacks from Stainless Marine too. Both very good units.

That all makes sense! Thanks, Dhadley or Kenny, can I send you a pic of my setup and get your opinion on whether the jack plate will work as I'm concerned about the steering set-up and if its compatible with a plate?

Sure. I havent seen a jackplate yet that wont work with hydraulic steering. Lowering the motor wont be the issue unless youre running a 20" motor on a 25" transom. Even then a good prop will compensate. We do it all the time.
