Re: looking for the cavation plate

I believe the reason for it being called anti CAVITATION plate, is that it prevents the propeller from VENTILATING (sucking air) and start CAVITATING.
Sting Rays, Whale Tales and other fins have nothing to do with ventilation or cavitation!
Simply a trim tab intended for lifting the stern of the boat, lower planning speed and perhaps reduce some fuel consumption. Bear in mind that the total vertical lifting force is taken up by the engine rubber mounts which were never designed to absorb loads in that direction or way!!
I never sold them in my shop, but did not mind people using them as changing rubber mounts and drilling out broken mount screws was gooood money!!!

"sucking air" does not lead to cavitation. "sucking air" is "ventilation"!

Cavitation is when the propeller turns, and the pressure on the "pulling side" of the blades gets to be so low so the water starts to "boil" (essentially introducing air bubbles - but they are NOT from the surface).

But, this topic has been debated many times...:)
