Looking For Tread On Whale Tail??

I've been looking for a discussion on those fins that you attach to the drive. They look to me like a "whale tail" Any one use them? like them? Not worth the time? thanks

Use the search term "hydrofoil" and you will get many hits. Some folks swear by them and some swear at them. I've tried them and always end up removing them. I would recommend you investigate Nauticus Smart Tabs. These are self adjusting trim tabs.

i have 2 sets in my shed, for someone i dislike. use smart tabs.

I have one on my boat and really like it.
I have run with and without it and the diffrence is huge, planes out at half the speed with it on, of coarse me being me I made my own out of 3/16 aluminum.
If you can't swing $120 for tabs it is a pretty good option.

I have run a hydrofoil on my old boat, did not like it, now have Smart Tabs, they are great.

Not worth the time

with the invention of smart tabs.....
i had a hyrdrofoil on my old boat. all it did for me was break my vent. plate on my drive. after that, i removed them all together and on my boat it didn't make that much difference. i think in my case the po (my dad) put them on to help with waterskiing. but like i said. with these new smart tabs available now... it sure seems like that's a better way to go.
