I have a 1996 19.5 glastron. Great boat but it is a bit of pain getting in and out of water if you are not use to it. Has any one added a swim platform or have any ideas on improving the boarding from water? I have viewed a few sites that make the swim platforms and they range from $900-$1500. It seems like alot of money but looks like they really improve the look of the boat and seems like it would help with boarding. THanks!

Re: Looking into adding Swim Platform ideas?

I have a 23' Formula and took off my teak swim platform as the supports interfered with the sterndrives. I replaced it with one of these:

swim ladder in Boat Parts & Accessories For Your Boat - iboats

a whole lot cheaper than adding on a platform and just as easy to use. Just throw it over the side when you need it and stow it when you're done.

Unless you are really handy and motivated to make your own swim platform, the custom fab ones that you see on the various web sites are your best option. Choose wisely, some look better than others.

I plan on adding one to my boat in a couple of years, once I get through some other 'priority stuff'.
