Looking at buying my first boat ever - trying to find a good deal though I live in Calgary Alberta Canada

I found very nice 2006 Glastron GX-205 - original owner - loaded with every bell and whistle possible

"upgraded from the factory 320hp 350 GXI fuel injected motor and Volvo Penta outdrive with stainless steel prop. I bought this boat new in 2006 so I am the only owner. It has silent choice exhaust that sounds awesome!! The boat runs great and will do 55 to 60 mph and gets there fast!! Lots of power for just cruisin or for pulling a wakeboarder or waterskiier. This boat handles the ruff water better than most with the Glastron hull design and makes a excellent wake for boarding. 388 hours. Other features is Monster tower with two wakeboard racks, lights, and 4 Wetsound speakers. It has a Premier CD player that has Sirius Radio and ipod hookup with eight Focal midrange speakers, dual batteries with switch, docking lights, snap in carpet, and swim platform. Comes with cockpit and bow covers that are in excellent shape. I always wipe it down and clean it after every use and have always stored it inside for the winters. It always has had regular full sevice oil changes and winterizing done by professionals. NADA average retail is $30,405 and low retail is $26,835. Im asking below low retail at $24,000 OBO"

just wondering what I should be paying for this? wondering about what issues I should be concerned about before I commit to driving south for 12 hours to see and possibly purchase and bring back in the winter weather we have been getting up here for the last week.

Personally I would never travel that far to buy something regardless how good of a deal it appears to be. Makes it very difficult to come home empty handed. I mean what if the boat isn't as advertised?

I'd be willing to bet you'll find a great deal on a boat in the Calgary area if you just keep your eyes peeled.

As far as issues bringing it across the border, there are recent threads in this forum regarding that.

The GX 205 with 320hp is very very rare, and very fast and is a nice boat with the bigger engines.Yes it will do close to 60mph with this motor.
I had a GXboatpix2.jpg 205 from new in 2004 (with 280hp) and paid $25000. Sold it in 2010 for $12000 so they do not hold value particularly well.
Most with 320hp and wakeboard towers had the "low profile/go faster windshield....not everyones scene, watch out.
The bow has quite a low freeboard so is not terribly happy in rough water.Mine proved pretty well bulit and relaible.....

You can look it up on NADA and check the value they put on it. The 'Ski and Fish' model is much higher on the value than the regular GX-205 but I did not get the values quoted. Frankly, that seems a high price for a 2006 Glastron but it does seem nicely equipped and the hours are good for a boat that was used well. When you bring it into Canada you pay GST on the value and you need to go through the RIV process for the trailer but that's not hard. I don't follow the prices for that kind of boat though I did test drive that boat new in 2006 when I was looking. I chose something else but it was a nice looking boat.
It should be a few thousand dollars less than you could find one in BC or the Prairies.

Re documentation - make sure you get separate bills of sale/receipts for the boat and trailer. Do not combine them as you will be dealing with two levels of government. Federal for the boat, and provincial for the trailer.
