Mid life crisis set in and I'm looking to buy a fast powerboat in the 30-35 foot range. Would only consider new. Does anybody have suggestions on which manufacturer. So far I've been impressed with Donzi,Fountain,Sunsation, and Baja. Speed would have to be around mid 80s to mid 90s.

Hope you have deep pockets! :D
I'd look at Formula, Cigarette and Fountain. IMO they are the best of the bunch.
Here's another site that's oriented more for high performance boats. You might get better response. www.speedwake.com .

Welcome to iboats!!!

I feel your pain. Pick up an issue of Hot Boats (which is hard to find) and there are many go fast boats there. Look at the screamandfly.com where you may see many familiar people to iboats too. Take a look at Cougarboats.com and you can build your own.

Good luck.

Good luck on those speeds because shy of a hydroplane you ain't gonna see mid 80's anywhere. Fountains are my favorite boat, even with quads you might hit 70's if the boat is stripped, like mentioned I hope this ain't your first boat.

Please tell me this is not your first boat...

EXACTLY my first thought when I read the post. I can see the news story already.

Like Bubba said- PLEASE say that you're a highly experienced boater...

Definitely not my first more like my eight. Had a Scarab and a Pachanga. Very much an educated boater. A friend of mine had suggested I look at Sunsations new 32 footer. Loved the look but the information I'm seeing is the MSRP on the Sunsation is in the 230k range. How much off of a MSRP price (percentages) is the right amount. Am I off base to believe dealers will come off 30-35 percentage points off the MRSP.

If you are running in fairly flat water, you might want to look at a cat. They are verry fast with the least hp. You better be a good driver at thet speed. We have a boat up here that is a 50 ft with twin turbins, and runs in the 160 to 180 range. It is called MY WAY. Fastes boat on the st.laurence river. It is an awsom boat.

I've heard 20-25% is viable, when fuel was higher maybe you could go 30% but they're losing money at that point. Fountains hull design and racing background are what makes it one of the faster boats out there.

Been on 2 different Fountains here (loaded down with everything) on the lake running twin 525's, one GPS'd at 91 and the other GPS'd at 93.

This one that Powerboats tested 5 years ago topped out at 104 on radar with twin 575's.

Lots of offshore stuff around here capable of over 100 MPH.

For a pure speed boat, I'd look at Skaters. A guy I used to work for had a Fountain and a Skater. That Skate ran faster and cut through wake like crazy. He ran it constantly in the 90s at the Lake of the Ozark without a problem.

For more passenger and lounging, I would look at Fountain and other type boats. Those boats are really nice but at those speed, starts to get uncomfortable.

Does anyody have any infos on sunsations test drove on this morning and loved it. If anybody has purchased a 32 footer lately would love to know where I should be in the good deal price ranged. This boat was loaded including 496s with a Mitcher Tee paint graphics but list was 235k I would love to own this particular one but they balked at 152,750 plus tax Any help would be great.
