Hi everyone,

I'm new at this, so bear with me if you can. I'm presently looking at purchasing a 2001 Lund 2025 Pro V with a Merc tiller 125 hp saltwater pushing it. I know absolutely nothing of these saltwater engines, I fish the St-Lawrence river only. I'm wondering if this is the right engine for that boat?

Any input or suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks

You haven't had any other replies, so I'll give you an opinion. I think 125hp sounds small for that big a
boat. A sea trial should be a must, to see how the combination performs. Unfortunately, I can't give you
an opinion about the "saltwater" engine.

Whats the hp rating for the boat ? I think it is suggested that you run at mininum 65% of rating. Has the engine been run in saltwater? If not then don't worry about it being the saltwater model which may have slight mods for saltwater use. That would be a plus for freshwater not a negative.

I think 125hp would be appropriate for that boat, but I don't know the weight / size / hull design of the boat. If it's just for fishing, then I would think you'd be fine. But that's just me.

Thanks for the advice! I'll see if I can take it for a spin, it's a little far away from me, but I'll take the time. It's never been in saltwater BTW. So I guess it's better that way!

Thank you all!
