looper flywheel interchage.YOU got one?

Hello,I just finished rebuilding my 1987 140 looper powerhead that was in 5 boxes when I acquired the boat.1000.00 and some good hours later I have found that I have the wrong flywheel,It won't sit low enough on the stator and the flywheel teeth are to wide to contact the starter,This one is vented and I don't believe the one I need is.I was missing the flywheel originally and purchased this one from a guy in Orlando.Long story short I am chalking up the 80.00 I paid him as experience.I also needed other hard parts that he sent me half of..(Lower bearing retainer.)Any body out here Got one?And /Or will one work from a 120 ? I think just induction is different on the two..Thank's...

The last time I needed an old Johnny flywheel I got it from tcoutboard.com.

The 1985, 86 & 87 120 / 140 flywheels are interchangable. The 1988 V4 flywheels look the same but are different. Also make sure you have the short bosses on the upper main cap. If he gave you a V6 looper upper main cap it won't work.

The V4 crossflow flywheels are different. I'll look tonight to see if I have a stock early one. I know I have a late one for a race motor but I'm sure you don't want to spend $1200 on one.

Thank you dhadley, That would be great..I have two upper heads and the stand offs are the same size. the omc parts book says I should have a 396668.The ones I have are 331858.I am going to look for superseded numbers.thanks JB I am checking them out as well.I have alot of patience when putting something together or diagnosing.but I guess I lose it when I need a part..

Hey Dhadley...Any luck with an old flywheel?I have found a place In Ocala Joes Marine.He says he should have it.He has 400 flywheels but now I am a little hesitant.I dont have one to match up to it and I may end up with a 1988 flywheel which You said is different.Sould I be looking for a new upper main cap as well?

I think it's one of those "slippery slope" type things. Plus this lets them have a reason to ban someone who joins just to place an ad to sell their boat.

Thats great..Join a forum that is all about fixing your HARD to get parts for boats and engines but DON'T inquire on them..Sounds like a suit had something to do with it...

Sankanother1, the flywheel I have is a 1987, I think. The welch plug is J140TCLUA. I can't find that model number anywhere. I did find TLCUA.
