Looper vs Crossflow ?

Looking for opinions on looper vs. crossflow. 23' Mako CC, started out with a mid 70's crossflow 200 ran very good aside for being a gas slob! atleast it got me fishin and never missed a beat, anyhow she found a new home on a local bait boat, Quick fix #2 maybe going back with an '88 225 evinrude looper,new wiseco pistons bored 20 over, what you'll think is their gonna be much diff? power-fuel-longevity-less smoke Thanks for info

Welcome!<br /><br />The looper will make a ton more torque and you'll burn less fuel too. It's simply a much newer design.<br /><br />Good luck!

In the high rpm range it is everything Dhadly says.On the very low rpm end the crossflow performs better.

Why is that? The difference in the RPM range performance. I have a 200 cross-flow and am looking to upgrade to the Looper. Other than saving 75 lbs, will the cross flow troll better than the looper? I hardly ever run wide open so i'm not concerned with high end but I will say my cross flow does not seem to have much acceleration power. Thanks.<br />James

Loopers will troll just fine, if not better than crossflows. I troll alot, and have never had a problem with my looper!!

Any looper I ever ran had more bottom end that a compareable crossflow. As a matter of fact the 60 degree 150 on my Dusky has more low end than the 200 crossflow I had on it. <br /><br />Interesting......
