Looper???

I have a 1996 225 Johnson, and I have heard people calling it a looper engine. Can you guys tell me what exactly is a looper engine?? Why is it called a looper? Thanks, Tim

One more thing about this place.....its rating system. I was in the Marine Corps, and will always be a Marine, but according to iboats, I am a seaman cadet, damn the luck....lol, but the give good info, so I will stay around. Thanks again guys for all the good info,
