I made the mistake of posting some stuff on FB Marketplace to get rid of some stuff. . . Some boating related items and parts to my now defunct outboard.

I get a response to a posting for the engine cover . . . asking if it runs !!! :ROFLMAO:

On other stuff that I have, I get a bunch of one-hit wonders . . . then crickets.
FB should really take the "is it available" button off their screens

Similar craziness when we were getting rid of stuff earlier this year in preparation for selling the house. I sort of forgot about that before posting stuff this time.

I think I might switch over to eBay.

Yeah, FB Marketplace is an epic failure, too me anyways. 🤬😵‍💫😤.

As far as EBay, That ship has sailed as far as I’m concerned. I used to make a solid second income selling antique motorcycle parts there. Then came the fees and other BS.
I've only sold 2 items, but your point is well-taken. After all the fees and stuff, I'm only netting about 65% for my sales. I've learned a few things, so the number should go up. I'll just need to figure the net proceeds into my pricing. (I try to under-cut on popular items, figuring that buyers have a good array of choices).

Quick Update . . .

I've listed about 25 items on eBay. Half of them have sold totaling about $1K. I'm getting about 67% of the gross as a net into my account. 🤪

The other stuff has been on there for a couple of months, and I am not sure at this point if it is worth continuing to list them. Most of the higher dollar value items have sold.

I don’t get a lot of stuff on eBay but I do use it from time to time. I got some hinges for a 20 year old oven last week and did notice that a lot of prices had been lowered. And there were a lot of people watching items but apparently not that many buying. Best of luck in the rest of your sales.

Poor people have less money. Another FLIPPER wants to buy your stuff cheap enough to resell it.
Modern small business logic.

I have some things I would like to sell but don’t know how I want to go about it. I don’t have a facebook account. I have used Craigslist for items I didn’t want to ship and Ebay for Items I was willing to box up. It seems like marketplace is the way to go now but I keep dragging my feet because I don’t want a facebook account.

I miss simply placing an ad in a newspaper.

I haven't used it much, but I've been impressed with how fast stuff sells on Facebook marketplace. I've used Craigslist a couple of times too. But I don't think things moved as fast as they did with Facebook.

I don’t have Facebook and never will but I do hear people talking about the marketplace all the time. Seems to be a good thing.

craigslist sometimes works
facetube marketplace sometimes works
fleabay sometimes works.

depends on what you are selling, when you are selling, etc.

I just scored some good deals on facetube marketplace. few bites on what I am selling.

I'm in the same boat, got a car I need to sell but don't do the FB thing, and don't want to.!

I have sold 3 vehicles via FB Marketplace. Also a bunch of old appliances, furniture, and other stuff. It has worked well for me. You just have to make sure you post the sale into groups that are interested in that type of stuff and then weed through the jerks and scammers. Yes, you get a lot of "is this still available" even a minute after it is posted ... but you deal with them according to your level of patience and salesmanship. I have sold several items to people who started the convo with "is this still available." I once had a person travel 50 miles for a $25 bedspread. SMH.

I've done a lot of prop swapping and selling on market place. Works great for stuff like that. Never had luck with vehicles.
