so ive got a 1998 wellcraft 240se with a 5.7 2bbl. it runs fine while cruising, and i havent had any issues when first starting and idling out to the river, but yesterday twice after cruising in it, about ~3 minutes after coming off of a cruise and returning back to idle speed in forward the rpms started fading, im assuming if i let it stall it would, but at roughly 500rpms i throttle it and it stays running, it happened in a shipping channel yesterday which was a bit unnerving. came off of a 30 minute run at 3400rpm, was at "fast idle" roughly 1000rpms for 3 minutes and it dropped to 500, i throttled it to 1800 rpms, and pulled right up to a restaurants dock, shut it down, inspected everything, found nothing wrong, it fired right back up and ran fine. so we got food there and went back home, was fine through the no wake zone. got up to cruise with no issues, got back to the marina and again about 3 minutes after i was back at idle speed, this time at 750rpm, it started to fade again about 20 feet from my slip, throttling it kept it alive and it seemed to be running ok as i was backing into my slip. didnt have time to let it run and play with it though as it was late and my 3yo was not amused. any suggestions? i had trim senders installed last winter and im thinking they may have laid on something and tweaked it causing it. this happened once before this season about 45 days ago with the same scenario but i kinda let it slide as it didnt happen after that. my current inspections this weekend will be to put it in base timing mode and make sure its set correctly, throw a new fuel pump at it just for piece of mind since its 22 years old, also gonna look at the shift cut switch and see if maybe its out of whack. not sure what else to look for
