I have a 2005 volvo penta 8.1 GI-E in a Chaparral 256 SSI.
I recently had issues with the starter and replaced it. The engine starts without difficulty but runs a little rough. Went to test on the water today and I don't have enough power to get onto plane.
I did realize that I ran for about 5 minutes at no wake speed with the blue fresh water hose adapter cap open. I noticed after I got a single beep every 5 seconds or so. I closed it up and the beeping stopped. I never noticed that the engine temperature went up significantly.
When running, I occasionally get a loud knock sound from the engine but can't seem to isolate where that is coming from.
I replaced the electronic fuel injectors a few years ago when I had a similar issue. Does this sound like a fuel injector problem again? Just figured I'd check before replacing them.
