Re: lost folder
Mistakenly deleted files by amateurs normally means they are gone. There are specific conditions which allow recovery, deviation from them usually means unrecoverable data.
1: The drive the data was deleted from must not be written to AT ALL
2: Data can only be recovered to a different drive (see #1)
If you only have one partition (on have Drive C: ) and continued to use your computer, the files are likely gone for good. Your Windows swap file and temp files will quickly gobble up any newly available sectors, truncating what would have been intact, recoverable data. Even shutting down Windows can corrupt the deleted data.
For future reference, for anyone who ever wants their deleted data back, Windows Recycle Bin only holds onto smaller files and folders. Over a certain size, it bypasses recycle bin and gets hard deleted. If that happens, unplug your PC (don't press the power button) and bring it to someplace which does file recovery. If you have a 2nd PC, you can place your hard drive in an external USB drive enclosure and use the 2nd PC to run recovery utilities, but be sure you wish to risk your data, as it is very easy to corrupt deleted data, especially with some of the willy-nilly recovery utilities out there. As for utilities, I use Easy Recovery Pro and Recovery Studio. Both are not meant for beginners, but can be used if you read the help thoroughly.
Also for future reference, if you ever lose photos on your SD (or any camera card), Recuva (spelled like that) is a great beginner utility to recover files directly from the card. I used it recently when my camera corrupted some vacation photos. Got all but one photo back with relative ease.
