Lost key to controls anyone every picked one of these locks

anyone have any luck picking lock on merc control key .or is there a easier way mid 80's
could not be top hard Im guessing

There are about 10 keys max. One will fit the control. A Merc OB dealer should have all 10 for you to try. If you can drag it to his shop, it will take a few minutes to find out which key it is.

Dunno 'bout mid-80's, but on my late-70's Mercontrol if you open the control box the body of the ignition switch has a label with a 3-digit number on it that tells you which of the ten-or-so keys fits it.

Yes, I recently lost my keys and had to replace them.

Buy one and then go to Lowes or Home Depot and have about 10 more made and scatter them about so you don't have to go through this again. Actually, a good locksmith can fix you up but it would cost you more than the trip to the dealer.

Have you ever heard of a "bump key". :)

lol. how would a bump key work in this instance. its just a key with all the cuts maxed out and then you bump the lock cylinder to turn it. I would imagine you'd beat up your fingers...and probably the control box trying one on it haha.
