It started at 7:58am when I received a text from my assistant that he wouldn't be in because of major problems with his truck. At 8:00 am I tried to call him. At 8:06 I texted him to call me. At 8:26 I called again. Now I'm getting worried as in the past 3 years, he never failed to call or text me back. This made me feel like something was wrong.

At 11:20, my boss calls and said he was found dead in his truck with a garden hose in the exhaust pipe going to his cab. We have an idea why, but I cannot discuss the details as an investigation is going to be performed. It is not like him to do something like this. He is survived by a 23 year old daughter and his ex-wife. He had no other living relatives.

Roy was only 49. A great worker who would jump on any task given to him no matter how dirty or nasty it was. He would go into work at any time of day or night. Good hearted and easy going. He is the type that would give you the last of anything he had to help anyone out.

His daughter started her college classes today only to be cancelled due to her dads death.

A prayer for his daughter Sara would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks..........SS ............... I will surely miss him

Always hate to hear of such tragedy. I know from experience that depression and anxiety is an invisible malady. There are no known answers for some things...

Always tough when a friend takes their own life...I've been there. You will always wonder why didn't they just call you in the middle of the night and ask for some help? Who wouldn't jump up at any time to save a friends life? But, after years in the medical field, I call tell you that when people get to the point that they seriously contemplate suicide, they truly aren't thinking as you know them. There is a desperate cry that is kept inside and most people will never see it.

My condolences to his family and friends. Just be there for the family if you can.

SS-
Exactly like fireman said, but to add your going to have to deal with the loss of a friend, just keep your chin up the best you can bud, it will be hard.

So many unanswered questions in something like this make it very difficult to sort out. Don't assume too much - including the natural "if I had only's" that one thinks of at a time like this.

My condolences to the family, and you as you grieve your friend.

Re: Lost my Assistant and Friend Today

I cannot imagine how that little girl feels....i have two now in college and have tried to demostrate to them the power of faith.

One night I dreamed I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed footprints in the sand. Sometimes there were two sets of footprints, other times there was one only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow or defeat, I could see only one set of footprints, so I said to the Lord,

?You promised me Lord,
that if I followed you, you would walk with me always. But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my life there has only been one set of footprints in the sand. Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me??

The Lord replied, ?The years when you have seen only one set of footprints, my child, is when I carried you.?

It is times like this a person needs faith in something beyond what we can understand...Fatih is what keeps us alive and human

Re: Lost my Assistant and Friend Today

It's just very sad and difficult to understand how a guy or gal would want to end their life like that, and it leaves behind such scars with his family and loved ones. I had an old friend shot himself in the head about a year ago, and his wife and family have no where to file this....I guess most average normal folks just want to see the sun come up one more day and have a good cup of coffee one more time, see their wife and family another day....I just don't understand this suicide thing?....very sad!:(
