Re: Lost my job...

Isaacm, you've got my respect. It shows a lot of character to take a non-glamorous job to fulfill your responsibilities. Your parents must be proud of the man they raised.

As for construction, some segments and areas are over developed and will take time for the market to absorb the excess. When it does, the market usually heats up pretty good. Other areas are building up pressure that will erupt once positive business attitudes and conditions are restored.

Re: Lost my job...

I had to pump jet fuel for 7 bucks an hour for almost 5 years to save up enough to go back to school and get a license to work on airplanes. I currently just completed the airframe section and hopefully will have my P in June.

As long as people own airplanes I've got a job somewhere. My college degree that I already had will put me a step ahead of the rest of the A and P mechanics out there. My pilots license shouldn't hurt either.

So with a 4 year degree I was pumping jet fuel for 7 bucks an hour. Changing oil isn't that bad. Trust me.

Re: Lost my job...

Well yesterday landed a job chaging oil in a lube shop, I guess it is not glamourous, and it pays a lot less. but there is no shame in working to provide for my family. So i am thankful for anything i can get.

Thanks all for the encouraging words.

which shop?

congrats, I would take that if I could even find that. our area is terible. The underground contractor I worked for folded up and closed the doors in september. I was a manager, I have been out of work every since. I would flip burgers if neccasary, but there is not even opening for that. being a mechanic, side jobs is keeping us afloat (pun intended). hang in there things have to go up.
