Not sure if this is good or bad. But anyways, couldnt find my old bolt that helt my shift rod into the shift clevis.

So I used one of my old water pump bolts and turned down the end of it (approx to the thread minor dia).

Seems to work like a charm. I dont even remember what the old bolt looks like. But I think this should work.

I belive the correct one has a groove under the head of the bolt for an o-ring. How ya sealing it?

I'm thinkin' that bolt is not going in the lower unit, he's got a 70hp which uses a cut-down bolt at the top to capture the shift rod into the clevis (aka Shift Rod Lever).

No O-ring required there, although I'd be inclined to use a lock washer (but I don't find one in the parts diagram).

Just a thought..........ed
