Motor has been running like a top no problems until yesterday. Noticed an occassional skip at idle but went away when throttled up. Docked the boat for about 30 min and went to restart. Motor turns over same as always and plenty of gas. All seems to be correct. Pulled a plug and checked for spark. Nothing there. Checked inline fuse and it was OK. Any suggestions.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Lost Spark 92 OceanRunner 150

Thanks, I am picking up the new manual in the morning. I am wondering if the problem is in my key switch. Seems odd that it would just be all of a sudden. I may try to disconnect my control harness at the motor. I should be able to jump start right from the starter and see if it fires up. That would isolate the switch. If not I'll have the manual tommorow.

Pst...just a question here....is your emergency stop switch key in place? Some times folks will over look this key. If it's not in place, the engine will not start.

Good question. Is this key on the motor itself? I am getting the manual tommorow. So I'm a little lacking on this particular motor.

Kill switch clips to ignition switch cylinder on your throttle controls.

I'll have to check that out.Is it a snap ring type clip. I have an older control set up from a 74 Evenrude. Key cylinder is just ba threaded barrel with a nut to tighten through the control box. I wont be able to check til tommorow.
Thanks

Re: Lost Spark 92 OceanRunner 150

Picked up the manual today for the motor and spent some time tonight trying to trace the system out. From what I can tell there is no kill switch on this control. I checke to be sure neutral switch was working in the controller as well as there is also one on the shift linkage at the motor both open and close as they should. I seem to have everything doing what it is supposed to do except still no spark. Fro the manual best I can figure out It would be in the powerpack. I am trying to figure out how to determine good or bad by the manual but for some of the test they call for a different type of volt meter. I'm thinking about picking up a new pack and swapping it out. I'm gonna guess their somewhat expensive. When these go is is normal to not give any symtoms before failing. The motor 1/2 hour earlier had been running without a hitch. Seems odd to just quit like that.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Pst,

powerpack is appx $300. Meter (decent model) is about $60. Your call.

Re: Lost Spark 92 OceanRunner 150

Thanks for the info everyone. Solved problem last night. Found the optic sensor on what I guess would be the stator assembly to be non functional. Friend of mine had one on a same motor in his shop that had blown due to lack of oil. We swapped it out and she fired up good as new. Gave him $ 40.00 for the part and we were both happy.
