Re: lots of smoke

Compression check needed without a doubt. Check spark plug condition also. Post photos of plugs if possible.
Could well be head gasket.

Re: lots of smoke

I was expecting to not even see the motor for the smoke, my 9.5 makes just as much or more.

Is it smoke or steam? If smoke, run it and clean it out. If steam, check compression, maybe head gasket. There can only be 2 different things that can get into the cylinder, fuel and water, got to be one of the two I would think.

Re: lots of smoke

well i brought it to the lake, and it seemed to smoke less (kinda hard to tell as it was pitch black and i had no lights), it was hicupping pretty good, so im assuming it was running a little lean.

i had it running for abut 5 minutes and the engine was warm to the touch, it was peeing out water like crazy....

now just to double check, when im adjusting my L0 speed needle how far shuld i screw in the screw? (what the needle goes into) and what way do i turn the needle to richen it

Turn the needle in until it is just seated (not hard you'll ruin the seat). Turn out 1.5 turns. Start the motor. If it doesn't start here (I've had a few that won't) it's probab;y to rich turn in a 1/4 turn until it starts. Once started turn the needle in 1/4 turn at a time letting it run for 10-15 se. between adjustments to stabilze until it starts to wheeze or stumple. Then back off 1/4 turn.

I would still do they compression test to make sure there is no water getting in the cylinder.

Compression check, check plug condition and a manual should be your next steps.
