i've just had the honor of informing my poor friend that his engine had low compression in one cylinder. It was 110 in all 5 then the last one was 70. I was wondering if he can run this engine the way it is or is it wise to just get rid of it before more things can go wrong. He had only used it once when he first bought it. Poor guy did not change the water pump so it over heated. then he changed it and then did the carbs. took it out the second time and it lasted 2 mins. bogged and died. He did the fuel pump. It did not even leave the docks. It would idle fine and run good on the water hose. but put it in gear in the water and it would die. Is there anything he can do about the low compression or do I just inform him to sell the thing and get what you can.? Being a close friend I do feel for him.
